| CARMIGNANO |
Near Florence, nestled in the Montealbano hills, you can find Carmignano. The long standing Carmignano
DOC is produced here on the old hunting grounds of the
Florentine Medici family. Carmignano wine uses Sangiovese
and Cabernet Sauvignon that were introduced in this
area many centuries ago and it is the Cabernet that
adds the complex and diverse character that distinguishes
it from the other wines.
On this tour, we will also pay a visit to the town of
Vinci, birthplace of the great genius: Leonardo. In
Vinci we can visit Leonardo’s museum and the house
where he was born, framed by the breathtaking
landscape along our journey. |
SUGGESTIONS
You can visit the hunting reserve of the Medici family,
its historical homes such as Villa of Poggio a Caiano or Villa dei Cento Camini (of the hundred chimneys)
in Artimino convey the importance of the noble families
in those times. From Carmignano to Vinci, you will be
able to visit Leonardo’s museum and his home,
all set in breathtaking landscape. Located in the gentle
hills of Montalbano, Carmignano and Vinci are of a rare
beauty especially at sundown when you can see the whole
valley extending to Lucca from the western side of the
mountain, of a warm and intense red shade, symbol of
the passion that fills this land. |
